Hello Forest Families!
We had a fantastic week exploring our beautiful forest. The sunny skies and breezy winds added an extra touch of magic to our day! Here’s a look back at our autumn adventures:
Nature Art and Leaf Printing 🎨🍁
Our morning was filled with creativity as the children painted leaves and pressed them onto paper and a larger canvas, capturing the vibrant colours of autumn. They also traced their favourite leaf shapes to create stunning autumn collages and experimented with blue and red paints to make purple backdrops, finishing with real leaves to add a seasonal touch.
Squirrel’s Autumn Café and Swing Fun ☕🍃
Squirrel’s Autumn Café was bustling in the mud kitchen, where the children whipped up “food” and “drinks” for their friends. Meanwhile, the swings were a hit as the children enjoyed soaring high, using their strong legs to push themselves, and taking turns with a fair and fun swing list.
Leaf Piles and Autumn Trees 🍂🌬
One of the highlights of the day was creating a giant chestnut leaf pile. Our little explorers tossed leaves into the air, rolled around, and sprinted through the crunchy pile with big smiles on their faces. Later, they “grew” their own autumn tree by adding their favourite leaves to a hand-drawn trunk, bringing the beauty of the forest to life.
Bear Hunt Obstacle Course 🐻🌳
To the tune of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, the children crawled, balanced, and climbed across an exciting obstacle course. Each part of the course represented a different part of the story, and the children sang along enthusiastically as they navigated through. Many even completed the course multiple times, showing off their adventurous spirits—and some fantastic bear impressions too!
Exploration Walk and Winter Wildlife 🌍🦉
During our exploration walk, the children learned how animals stay warm in winter, discovering new words like hibernation and migration. They created bird feeders to support our feathered friends preparing for their long journey south. It was a wonderful way to connect with nature and support local wildlife.
Eco-School Activities 🚲🌿
As part of our eco-school focus, the children discussed the ways they travel to school. Whether by bike, pram, or car, they explored how cycling helps keep forests around the world healthy and thriving.
It was a joyful day filled with creativity, learning, and autumn fun. Thank you for sharing these special moments with us!
