Twickenham - Robins, Black Birds,Magpies and Wagtails

Welcome to our forest this week, we have had a wonderful week learning all about birds. We hid pictures of different birds around the forest and with a tally sheet we hunted high and low recording each bird we found. With binoculars, telescopes and keen eyes we searched the trees and bushes for our real bird friends that share the forest space with us too. We found robins, black birds, magpies, wag tails and many more

Wimbledon Village - Lots of learning and the First Signs of Spring

The children have learned and learned and learned this week! At the start of the week, our lovely team were introduced to how to notice ‘the first signs of spring’, by looking for flower shoots, such as daffodils, snowdrops and bluebells. They also looked at tree and bramble branches to see if they could see any new shoots or buds growing.

Early in the week, they explored art inspired by the skies above us. Using mixed colours, they painted stormy scenes with different shades of white and purple. Thick paint was swirled across the paper to represent strong winds, encouraging the children to think about movement, weather and expression through art.

Fulham - Happy Hibernation, Bear! 🐻‍❄️🧤

Once upon a time, there was a lovely friendship adventure, secret messages on paper boats and hibernating bears! This week, we read, recalled and discussed ‘The Boy and the Bear’ book daily at circle time. We noticed the importance of sharing and the joy of spending time with others as we went through different seasons. We also learnt about the differences we find in nature and in the types of clothes we wear by observing the whimsical illustrations. When revisiting the lovely story, some children made connections and found out where Bear had been all this winter time and why! ❄️🌨️🏔️🧸

Twickenham - A Busy Week of Owls, Crafts & Adventure!

Our arts and crafts table has been very busy as one day we made owl masks and hooted our way round the forest flapping our arms and swooping around. Some of the children pretended they were the baby owls sitting on crates (branches) and others were mummy owls flying silently back to the babies.

Wimbledon - Magic and Adventure in the Forest

The forest is a place for magic and adventure and this week that is exactly what it was!

The children put their forest knowledge to the test and created their own maps of the space they enjoy every day. We started by speaking about things we could see around us and then used our memory to draw things that we see on the walk-ins or adventure walks. This led to some incredible maps of the forest all through the eyes of our little explorers!
