Fulham - Stick people

Our week in the forest

What can you make from some foraged sticks and a tree branch? Everything of course..

Sticks!

Sticks!

But not having the time to build everything this week the children opted for stick people, and what incredible creations the children produced. This week was their first introduction to using some traditional hand tools and their intense concentration, patience, persistence and creativity resulting in the most amazing stick people.

Throughout next week we will be developing their skills by introducing some more tools and techniques. We can’t wait to see where their imagination takes them…

Our Al Fresco lunches have also become a much more social affair, the children have really embraced the new arrangement of benches and improvised tables during their lunch time. Sitting together in this way has encouraged more communication among the children and promoted more independence during their mealtime, they have even started to help clean their own plates and cups, what amazing children we have.

The children have also loved welcoming the dinosaurs to the forest this week, they have been a great resource for imaginative play and communication through the construction of miniature worlds. Dinosaur land even had a few unexpected visitors in the form of worms and beetles, it can become quite a busy place at times…

Reminders

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... We can't contain our excitement for the Little Forest Folk Christmas Party on Monday! We're looking forward to seeing you all there!

The first day back at nursery after Christmas will be Tuesday 3rd January and Little Forest Folk will be closed for an inset day on Friday 6th January.

What to wear

Hatley have kindly offered to give our families a 15% discount in store on fully priced items. They stock some great fleeces, thermals and snow boots. Just let them know that your little one attends Little Forest Folk to receive the discount.

Check out our recommended winter kit list.

Team update

One of our educators Chelsey has sadly broken her collar bone in an accident at home, we're expecting her to be back onboard in February after her surgery.

We want to wish Manuel all the best for the future as sadly he will be leaving us at the end of this year. He has been an invaluable member of our team and he will be hugely missed by us all.

We have a new addition to the Little Forest Folk family, Paula will be joining us as an additional member of the team and will be supporting us across all three nurseries to fill in when members of the team are on annual leave or unwell... our very own Little Forest Folk super hero!
