Happy first week, Little Forest Folk Winkworth!!!! 🎉
What a fantastic opening week we have had. The weather may have turned a little chillier, but this hasn’t stopped our Little Forest Folk-ers exploring their new surroundings.
We made a nice warm and cosy fire and linked the fire safety with ‘Stick man’ by Julia Donaldson - ‘oh stick man, oh stick man beware of the fire’.
After setting off to find their perfect sticks, our little explorers got to work using potato peelers to whittle an area for the face. Once their face was complete, they used some string to make the arms and legs. Once complete, oh the adventures they had with their stick men! 🍂
We have had many a gorgeous adventure walk into the Arboretum this week too. The views are just breathtaking and at every turn there is something new to explore.
With binoculars at hand, we went down to the boat house and saw 2 Ducks, 3 cornering on the water along with 2 Herons, some Robins and many other birds. 🦆 The hill to walk back up was very tall so we used a large leaf in each hand to flap like bird wings to help us up.
We were so lucky to enjoy snowfall this week as well. Our Little Forest Folk-ers got to see it fall in the afternoon and then play outside in it the next morning. We made some snowballs, snowmen and even did some fantastic mark-making in it.
As we set up our magical site at Little Forest Folk Winkworth, we have lots of boxes ready to recycle. One was as tall as the children, and we thought It could be fun to cut out some windows so they could be robots.
We will continue to make friends, have fun, learn through play and get a little (a lot) muddy along the way.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
