Chiswick - Activities Inspired By Our Favourite Books!

Happy National Storytelling Week!!

It’s been a lovely week with many sunny, warm days. Our little explorers have been enjoying many activities inspired by their favourite books.

On Monday, they made the animals from The Gruffalo using different kinds of shapes, such as squares, triangles, ovals and circles. Children chose which animals they’d like to make and figured out which shapes they needed to make them. Many of them showed their maths knowledge to describe each shape as well as to count the number of shapes they combined to make their animals! Some children were very creative and decided to make their original Gruffalos with three eyes or two heads 😆

Another activity we especially enjoyed was making our own ‘Hungry Caterpillar’ necklaces🐛
Everyone demonstrated their growing fine motor skills and focus to thread green pasta and colourful shapes onto string. It was amazing to see so many of the children manage to do this with little assistance from an educator! They were so proud and happy with their original necklace creations 😀

We also had many adventure walks to the meadow, playground, allotment, and the picnic area where we all enjoyed climbing trees!

We hope you have a lovely weekend and can’t wait to see you all next week for lots more fun!
