Chiswick - Come rain, come shine, come wind

Come rain, come shine, come wind

With autumn finally here, the weather this week couldn’t really make up its mind. But fear not forest friends! We turn any surprise that autumn might have for us into another opportunity for adventurous play and exploration.

All the rain this week made plenty of puddles for us to jump and splash in. The deeper the puddle the better. Our forest adventurers love a challenge and getting wet is one of our favourite things that autumn brings around.

Strong winds brought us more and more conkers, which are still a hot topic at our camp. It’s a heated competition between children and squirrels and who can find more! Our little explorers’ wild imagination has taken all educators by surprise, we had no idea how many things can be made from conkers!

We took full advantage of the last rays of sunshine and warmth. When we have sunny afternoons, we never miss out on an adventure walk, where we can roly-poly down the hills.

Our Little Forest Folk-ers have always shown their exceptional skills at cooking delicious, boiled buttons, fried gravel and tossed leaves. However, this week elevated our cooking skills by bringing some real spice into use. Our chefs used a pestle and mortar to bash and mix spices of the world to elevate their grilled mud sandwiches and hot dogwood. We experimented with textures by adding water, flour, and chocolate powder.

This week in the forest we celebrated Yolly’s birthday. For our beloved educator the children prepared a delicious oat cake. Since we have been practicing our cooking skills all week, we already knew the perfect recipe. We mixed oats, water, sugar, spice, and everything nice, of course our super-secret ingredient - mud, to create this exquisite desert just for this special occasion. Our experienced chefs can guarantee you never tasted anything like this. In case you have a birthday coming, don’t forget to put your cake order now, as we all know how busy it is at the mud kitchen café.

Can’t wait to see what adventures October holds for us!
