Our crops and plants have enjoyed the water this week, as most of our harvest is coming to an end. We have enjoyed supplying the kitchen team with our potatoes for them to cook with and have enjoyed tasting our homegrown organic carrots when they were ready!

This week was somewhat of a rollercoaster of a week - whilst we had a lovely week, we have had to wave goodbye to some more of our wonderful friends, who have graduated from the nursery.

It’s been a wonderfully physical week in the forest this week! For our intrepid explorers, we installed a variety of additional climbing, scrambling, jumping, balancing, pulling and pushing activities into our camp to really focus on the healthy choices for activities.

On Tuesday, some of our sea creatures got trapped in giant icebergs and it was our job to set them free! We put them in our tuff tray and used tools to help break the ice apart. This, along with the temperature in the forest, meant we had the frozen creatures free in no time! 

The week started with a forest rock band! One of our holiday camp children took a liking to our ukulele, so in turn, he recruited some buddies to play instruments alongside him.

A momentous week for us at Little Forest Folk Wimbledon Village as we had the first wave of departures to mark the end of the sessional term.

Over the week, our intrepid children were faced with a beach complete with buckets and spades in the mud kitchen, a school classroom to practise hearing a register being taken and blocks for building castles! 

We continued with our counting and listening skills this week, with gusto! The calendar work was postponed, as it was a little too tricky for a lot of children that were in, so educators continued to use our ‘days of the week’ approach to counting down days over the course of the week.

On Monday, the children explored what would float and what would sink using some items provided by the educators and more that were found around camp. The warm weather also gave our educators quality time to talk about why we need to be careful in the sun and why we need more water breaks built into our day - some of the children can even now be heard calling ‘water break’ before the adults!
