Putney Heath - 'All Around Me'!

This week, our theme has been ‘all around me’- we have been learning more about ourselves and exploring the incredible environments we live in. From frosty mornings to sunny afternoons, we’ve had a week full of discovery, creativity, and adventure!

Our little adventurers kicked off the week with some binocular crafting, using recycled materials to create their own exploration tools. Equipped with their handmade binoculars, they ventured into the forest to investigate the magical frost coating plants and logs. We observed how the frost sparkled in the sunlight and melted as the day warmed—a fascinating way to connect with the winter landscape.

The frosty chill hasn’t held us back! We’ve been diving into tool work, using natural resources from the forest. Holly branches were the perfect material for whittling sticks with potato peelers. Practicing risk management and safety techniques, our adventurers peeled away carefully, transforming their sticks into magic wands and fishing rods.

To put their fishing rods to good use, we embarked on a peaceful adventure walk to the pond. Tying leaves to the ends of their rods to mimic bait, our little explorers spent a tranquil afternoon imagining they were catching fish. It was a wonderful way to unwind and connect with nature.

To keep warm, we’ve had dance parties in the forest, shaking and grooving in the frosty air. Our adventurers also explored their senses this week with scented playdough, mixing and moulding dough with wintery scents that added a sensory dimension to their play.

It’s been a fantastic week of exploration, creativity, and fun, and we can’t wait for more adventures next week!

Have a wonderful weekend!
