Putney Heath - Monkey Camp!

To switch things up this week, the children headed back to their roots and ventured to Monkey Camp! A lot has changed since our Little Forest Folk-ers last played on camp, so there was a plethora of opportunities to explore. The little ones have been fascinated by the slacklines and ropes, so they created their own high ropes course. Using the ropes as their guides, they climbed and swung like the animals their very camp was named after.

The children used a vast amount of paint to create water colours to stencil shapes. This was great for their mixing skills as they had to combine and concoct until their intended colour appeared. The children used the paints along with a stencil to support their shape recognition.

As the week progressed, the forest was transformed into a little toy shop. The educators set up an area for the children to spend their ‘pocket money’ on cuddly toys, cars, crayons and footballs. Before the activity began, our little adventurers set the price for each toy. The prices in the shop were very affordable except for some crayons that cost £20!

The little ones have a ginormous love for dinosaurs, so their educators planned an excavation! The children sifted through soil and looked for bones. As they uncovered the fossils, they matched them to corresponding templates. Each template also came with a measuring tape for the children to use their math skills.

The week closed with a fantastic treasure hunt. The little ones were given clues and off they went. Each clue led them to the next and so on. The Little Forest Folk-ers worked as a team to get to the end!

What a fabulous week, we hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
