The clock is ticking and we have started to count the days to welcome the most wonderful season of the year in the forest! Indeed, everything is beginning to look a lot like winter – a silent forest greets every morning, creating a peaceful, calm atmosphere. We walk, run & hop with our warm layers and waterproofs on and... let it snow!

A Week of Wonder: Scientists, Kindness & Forest Magic
Each day in our forest brought a new theme, a new adventure and a new spark of curiosity. From fizzing potions to poppy wreaths, from music walls to kindness theatres, our little explorers moved through the week with wonder in their eyes and joy in their steps. 

While creatures in nature remind us to slow down and appreciate a secretly quiet atmosphere, before they start getting ready to hibernate, our Little Forest Folk-ers are as busy as squirrels, making the most of the last weeks of this wonderful autumn. We welcomed November in the forest with a lively, wonderful week full of themed adventures, fun celebrations, lots of stories and sparkly energy! 

On Monday, we dared to walk into the forest and spy all the creatures that are getting cosy in their secret and dark dens. We built a nest using natural resources and hid it in the most spooky spot as an early Halloween cosy treat for the first feathery friend who finds it! 🪹🪺🪶

This week at Little Forest Folk Chiswick, our camp transformed into a world of witches, potions and mathematical mischief! 🧙‍♀️💫 As Halloween crept closer, our little explorers mixed imagination with number play - stirring up bubbling potions, measuring mysterious ingredients and spotting patterns in every corner of the forest.

As we step into October, a new forest of wonderful and vibrant colours unfolds before us - inviting us to wander and revealing new stories to the most inquisitive minds. This week, our little explorers have been more curious than ever.

This week at Forest Nursery, our little explorers embarked on a journey that blended the beauty of the natural world with the excitement of faraway places - real and imagined.

What a ride we’ve had this week at Little Forest Folk Fulham! 🚜🚌✈️🚦

Brrrrrrrr 🥁... It's officially the most cosy and colourful season of the year! We love Autumn in the forest because it is a totally magical and sensory experience for everyone

We set off on an indoor adventure. Of course at Little Forest Folk we love the great outdoors, but an adventure is still an adventure rain, shine, or strong winds

On Tuesday, we had a farm-tastic day - cue lots of renditions of Old MacDonald Had a Farm! 🎶🐄 It was perfect timing too (or should I say moo) as enjoying songs and rhymes ties right into our literacy intent for our littlest learners this week. 📚✨

The weather certainly got the memo - maybe a little all too well! 🍂🍁🧣It gave us the full autumn experience this week: one minute it was sunshine and perfect jumper-and-shorts weather and the next, it was full-on trench (or should we say “trench-rain”!) coat conditions! ☀️➡️🌧️

We all returned on Tuesday refreshed and ready to get the ball rolling - quite literally - with a football on camp and a goal post made from loose tyres! 

Every morning during this week, our children have noticed the first signs of late summer and early autumn: little green oval nuts that start to come out of their spiky shells and spread over the ground on our way to camp.

We regularly sing our weather song, where we celebrate all kinds of weather - and it’s a good thing we do, because this week we’ve had everything from scorching heat to a thunderstorm treat! 🌡️⛈️⚡️☀️

It wasn’t just hot… it was prehistorically hot! Luckily, we cooled things down with some refreshing dinosaur ice play. 

We welcomed a whole camp-load of new holiday adventurers. And what better way to kick things off than with a festival? It's already summer - but we were ready to turn up the volume! 🔊🎉

As our learning intention has been ‘Understanding the World’, this week has been full of scientific enquiry, investigation and deep dives into how things work 🌿☀️ 

The children created a natural wildlife pond in the hope of attracting some frogs, dragonflies - or maybe even a newt friend! 🐸🪷 We talked about the importance of natural spaces for animals and how we can use our understanding of animal adaptations to design environments that support their needs.

This week has been an important one, full of all kinds of emotions as we waved off some of our leavers onto their summer of fun before their new adventure at big school. We celebrated children’s final forest days in our usual forest ways, dancing, investigating and exploring.
