One of our most important rules in the forest is to ‘always be kind and gentle” and we also note that this is actually a good rule for life as well. This week with love in the air we have been looking at how we can be kind and gentle to each other, to the forest, to our friends and to our families.
We have made small paper hearts to give to each other and we have decorated heart shaped stain glass windows filled in with flower petals. We have also focused on using kind words to express to our friends and educators what we like about them, whilst also spreading kindness in other ways by helping the younger children, including new children in our games and helping each other get up when we’ve fallen after running too fast through the forest.
We made a huge heart out of cardboard and cut a hole in it for our throwing game. We stood back and tried to get a small bean bag through the hole in the heart. Some children stood close by, others stood further back, but all of them persevered with their throwing skills and in the end everyone was successful in getting their bean bags through the heart shaped carnival toss board! Soon however, our carnival toss turned into a photo opportunity to pop ones head through and many a funny photo was taken on the “insta love board”
Our Little Forest Folk-ers have also enjoyed a sawing lesson this week, as discs of wood, called cookies, were carefully cut and then decorated with chalk paints.
Thanks for coming to the forest. See you all next time!
