We have had a marvellous week of construction and building as the children have created obstacle courses from crates, planks and tyres

Our sensory tuff tray included farm animals stuck in mud and we had to clean and wash them, which delighted our younger children. The ice play kept us cool and the straw and grass play allowed us to feel the dry and rustling texture of the hay, all whilst exploring the different smells as we sniffed them.

“Spring has sprung and the grass is riz, I wonder where the birdies is..?” this is a very old poem indeed, but it has certainly been true for this week, although our birds at Little Forest Folk Twickenham are certainly not shy or elusive as robins congregate at the edges of the snack circle and parakeets, woodpeckers, coal tits and doves all sing loudly about the glorious weather, worms and nest building materials.
Twickenham - Superheroes and Tadpoles!
Twickenham - “La Fheile Padraig sona Dhuit”!
Twickenham - "Cave Baby"!
The Very Hungry Caterpillar came to the forest this week as we read the story by Eric Carle and talked about the life cycle of the butterfly. One of our super educators created an amazing caterpillar head with cardboard and paint and provided a variety of fruit which we then enjoyed feeding to the caterpillar head through his large round mouth. Naming of the fruit in turn led to discussions around good food for caterpillars and children to help them all grow and be healthy.
