Twickenham - "Nee naw, nee naw!"

“Nee naw, Nee naw!” The sound of the loud and colourful bells from our very own fire engine made from a recycled box and our ambulance made of supermarket crates, resonated in the forest as we learnt and talked about different community helpers this week!

Hose pipes and ‘fire extinguisher’ shaving foams were ready for our little firefighters to put out the pretend flames on one of the buildings. It was then taped off and a “No Entry" sign was put up to keep the place safe!

On another day, when we learnt about people who work in the medical field, our Little Forest Folk-ers took into heart the role of doctors, nurses, and ambulance drivers and rescued the people who were injured by the fire. After seeing the results of the ‘fire’ on our site, we put our builder’s hat on and transformed into construction workers to rebuild our community! Teamwork was the centre of it all as we helped each other carry bricks, blocks, and crates and use cement foam and special tools to build houses and shops.

As we celebrated Pancake Day on Tuesday, it was the best time to apply what we learnt about fire safety as our little chefs enjoyed delicious banana pancakes cooked on our campfire. Their role as chefs carried on the whole day as they made their own dough balls to make pizza and cook them in the outdoor ‘pizza oven’.

After appreciating the valuable work of farmers, learning where our food comes from, and talking about healthy eating, we ended our week by making healthy rainbow vegetable sushi rolls. Yummmm!

And just like our hardworking and helpful community helpers, we had a busy but fun-filled week! So have a restful weekend, everyone!
