Fireworks and bonfires have been the talk of the forest this week! The children have been so excited to talk about the fireworks they have seen and we have even found ways of creating our own firework displays in the forest.
Starting off the week with a painting activity, the children used sticks and dipped them into different coloured paints. We then printed our creative designs onto black paper to help the colours stand out and once they were finished, we then hung them all up to dry, which meant it looked like we had fireworks up in the sky!
We then did some giant firework painting on a big white sheet. The sheet was hung up in a tree and our little explorers searched the forest floor to find anything they could use as a natural paint brush, and then splatted paint onto the sheet to their hearts desire. It looked like a giant fireworks display at the end and meant that we could show off our painting skills on different scales!
We also took part in a sensory walk around the forest, taking time to look, hear and smell all different parts of the natural world around us. We looked at the mushrooms, we heard the various birds flying around and we could smell some of the damp leaves after the night-time dew. It was great for our Little Forest Folk-ers to recognise all the different senses and notice more around their space.
It has been such a busy and exciting week in the forest! We have also done some tool work to create another bug hotel, spent time working together in a pairs matching game and enjoyed time on the forest seesaw! There’s never a dull moment at Little Forest Folk Wimbledon!!
