Winkworth - Cupcakes & Pancakes!

What a hive of activity Little Forest Folk Winkworth has been this week in the glorious sunshine!

We started our week off with a fantastic cupcake corner. This had lots of different sensory and coloured items for the children to explore. There were different cupcake cases which they could then put sensory playdough in, which smelt of rosemary, mint etc. No cupcake would be complete without some 'sprinkles' which was different coloured rice. The children could make the cupcakes and then put them into the box in the correct order and send them off with their customers. Customer feedback was very positive and our little forest folk had a fantastic time making them!

We couldn’t forget pancake day later in the week! First the little cooks got to mash some bananas and then added some flour and oats. They mixed it all together and then spooned some mixture into the frying pan. Everyone had a turn as they tossed their pancake in the air and then back into the frying pan. We all loved singing some fun pancake songs together as we went along. We added some raspberries and blueberries on top before enjoying them together. There were some very happy faces and tummies!

We have celebrated books all week by opening up our book corner as a library. Each night the children have been choosing a book to take home and enjoy with their families. There were so many to choose from and they excitedly brought them back and chose a new one the next day. They joined in discussions about the books that they had taken home and what they enjoyed about it. On World Book Day some of us dressed up, we had a monkey, a dragon and a giraffe! There was a large variety of books to read out in the forest and a lot of them have been interested in the insect books, learning all the different names and if they had seen any out in the forest.
