Our Week in the Forest
This week our little explorers have thought about questions, developing answers and really considering how they can explain their ideas using what they already know. For example, our Little Forest Folk-ers were shown some outlines of different animals and objects, then they were asked what these outlines represented. When our lovely learners gave an answer, our educators asked questions like; ‘What can you see that tells you this is a …’ or, ‘Where do you think you would find this object?’ The children had to use their real life experiences to explain their ideas.
Over the week, our intrepid children were faced with a beach complete with buckets and spades in the mud kitchen, a school classroom to practise hearing a register being taken and blocks for building castles!
Educators used the morning song and rules time to consider why listening to rules is important and how the children can ‘show’ good listening, ears open… mouths closed… calm breathing… The children also had to listen to instructions to create a camp flag, create symmetrical butterflies and crepe paper butterflies and dragonflies.
On our walks too and from the forest, we talked about why it was very important to listen carefully before crossing the road, including how we listen and look at the same time. We also created a floor exercise ladder which the children enjoyed jumping, hopping and stepping over…
A busy week all round, we hope you have a fabulous weekend!
