Fulham - Cooperation, Kindness & Teamwork!

What a week we’ve had at Fulham camp! Continuing with our PSED intention, we’ve packed the week full of activities which encourage cooperation, kindness and teamwork, as well as plenty of opportunities to explore our senses in nature ☀️

Some of this week’s highlights:

👩🏾‍🤝‍👨🏼Around our morning snack circle, we discussed what it meant to be a great friend and asked the children to share some examples of showing kindness to our friends. We wrote these attributes on a piece of paper and handed them to the children who then mixed the recipe (water&paper) together to make a ‘bestest of friend’ potion. They added colours to the water and then scooped the concoction into little containers, which some of our little explorers then carried around with them, as a reminder of great friendship.

🪷 We took a trip to the freshly completed natural pond in the Walled Garden. It’s a great addition to our nature walks and the little ones loved observing and expressing what they could see. We saw lovely lily pads, and even some huge dragonflies which flew over the water. We quietened our voices and listened closely and could hear the crickets in the grass.

🦕 A frequent activity we have on camp is ice blocks with creatures trapped inside them. Using an array of tools, little ones find many ways to free the creatures from the ice, like; hitting with hammers, using spray bottles to melt the ice, or using the heat from their hands to melt the ice. This has been developing the fine motor strength of particularly our younger adventurers, as well as being a great sensory experience which keeps them engaged, and cool in the weather ☀️

🌳 This has been our first week of having our complete day outside, and it’s been so successful and enjoyed by our little ones. It’s a great way to start and end the day, having breakfast and dinner lunch-style! We’ve had some great story times underneath the tree and had some fun end of day activities, for example putting our thinking caps on for giant Jenga or showing off our gross motor skills when jumping over hurdles.

What a fabulous week, we hope you all have a lovely weekend!
