Fulham - Love Is In The Air...

This week at Little Forest Folk Fulham we have celebrated everything kindness, love and appreciation, with a particular focus on how we show our love for the people we hold closest - our friends & families. We have celebrated each other’s achievements with our Kindness Awards, written letters to the ones we hold dear into our Cupid Post Box and discussed our positive feelings about our families whilst getting stuck into Valentines themed crafting.

Cupid’s Post Box 💌

Children thought about who they felt love for, and we heard lots of mentions of mum, dad, nanny’s, grandma and grandpa, siblings and pets! Our Little Forest Folk-ers drew pictures of these individuals and some even signed the letters with their names. They then folded their paper once, and once again and made their way over to the post box to post their love notes, ready for them to be sent away to their loved ones.

Kindness Awards 🎊

This week our little adventurers took part in our Kindness Awards, an opportunity to consider and celebrate the amazing jobs they are doing within their social circle. The categories were Kindness, Magic Manners, Sharing and Listening, and the winners of each category were awarded a trophy - forest style (a handmade moulded clay love heart mounted onto a tree cookie). Although each child received a glittery medal for their achievements, we expected there may arise some negative feelings around not receiving a trophy. But we were taken aback by their selflessness and appreciation for their peers’ awards. As well as the educators voting, children also got a chance to cast their votes for each category themselves. Not one child cast a vote for themselves, but rather tuned in to their kindness for their peers around them and considered which friends they thought of when they heard ‘kindness’ or ‘sharing’ etc. Winners and runners up walked down the red carpet whilst their categories were announced, whilst educators and friends cheered for their peers. Our Little Forest Folk-ers loved the idea, and know that they can all continue working towards winning a trophy at the next occasion.

Pete the Cat came to Camp 🐈‍⬛

Pete the Cat has been a regular musical appearance in Little Forest Folk Fulham, so we thought what better than to create a large caricature of our feline friend. An area was created on camp where children could read, reenact and sing along to the catchy tunes with Pete himself!

Valentines Craft 💖

This week we have engaged in lots of arts & crafts, many with a Valentine’s Day theme! We have created and decorated our own picture frames, where children used lolly sticks to form a frame square shape. They then decorated these with pom-poms and hearts, before drawing a masterpiece to fit inside the frame. We moulded love heart shapes out of clay, with the help of clay cutters and utensils, before painting them with classic colours associated with love, and then gifted these to our families.
