The forest is looking very lush this week. Our garden, filled with seedlings in the last few weeks, had a sudden growth spurt thanks to the combination of rain and a long period of warm sunshine.

We celebrated the longest day of the year this week with lots of fun filled activities! With the warm weather we’ve been having this week (finally!), we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate Happiness Week. 

This week in the forest, we transported ourselves to school Reception to explore letters and how to write the letters in our name. We are very proud of our names and we wanted to write them on a large canvas using thick brushes and our favourite paints so that they are big, bright and colourful for everyone to see.

We had another amazing week in the forest as we enjoyed the first harvest of the summer. In the forest, we are surrounded by wonderful elder trees which are looking spectacular as their delicate white fronds of flowers entice us with their sweet scent.

This week the team have been focusing on one of our core eco-schools values by reusing waste materials to create new products. From brave knights to beautiful butterflies and ladybugs, the children have loved getting into character with cardboard swords, shields and wings which they have decorated themselves and played with throughout the week.

Our Morden forest has had so many cool activities this week! We have welcomed the sunshine in this first week of May to see all the cool things we can learn in our space. 

This week in our Morden forest, the children jumped into loads of fun exploring our colour monster book! Our forest space was set up with areas to explore each colour/emotion. We had a space to dance and let out our ‘wiggly feelings’ /the yellow zone.

This week has been one of the most anticipated so far this year as we had the arrival of our five duckling eggs on Monday. Our explorers were very excited and eager to see them. Some were a bit confused as to why they were in an incubator and had some questions like 'why haven’t they hatched yet?' or 'what are they inside?' which gave us the opportunity to talk and explain what the incubator does to help the ducklings grow. The entire experience from the duck eggs arriving to watching small chips and cracks appearing on the eggs was very exciting for everyone.

This has been our last week of Easter holiday camps in our Morden forest, and we’ve made the most with the company of the adventurous Little Forest Folk who have joined us! One of the main activities we’ve had this week has been ‘searching for the dinosaur egg!

This week in our Morden forest, our full day children and easter holiday campers got stuck in with some tool work.

Time flies when you’re having fun and we’ve been having such a blast that the end of term has come out of nowhere!

The beginning of Spring brought with it mild weather and warmth, both children and adults fully welcoming this. The children began and have ended the week with just as much energy and enthusiasm for play and adventure.

This week our intent in the forest was focused on different ways of measuring, and the different uses of filling containers with materials.
