Twickenham - Easter Crafts & Mark Making

Hoppy Easter! Sending you warm springtime wishes.

This week we embraced the wonders and joys of Easter and Spring with exciting seasonal activities that encouraged exploration, creativity and lots of hands-on learning.

Whilst in the forest, our Little Forest Folk-ers had lots of opportunity to notice the signs of spring, spotting the changes in nature from budding flowers to birdsongs. Our little explorers are continuing to learn about the new season through stories, discussions and direct contact with the forest itself. There was a wonderful music parade that everyone enjoyed this week, with musical instruments, as well as hand and body percussion.

We had lots of Easter fun with themed crafts such as, making a bunny using clay and natural resources sticks, leaves and seeds fallen from trees. On another day, of our little ones explored the different kitchen utensils such as various potato mashers with different patterns. Dipping them into green, orange and red paint in one tray, they made some beautiful Easter egg prints.

Each child had the opportunity to get creative and take part in making their own little Easter basket using paper plates. Everyone was very excited and keen to take part as they found out that the bunny would stop by and give them some eggs to carry in their basket.

The mud kitchen turned into an Easter mud Cafe, with a menu of treats such as chocolate muddy eggs. The book area was another exciting location for the children as they enjoyed reading Easter and Spring related books. Little Rabbit Foo was one of their favourites, and inspired them into further developing their story telling skills.

Some of the children further developed their mark-making skills too using egg shaped chalks. One of our little ones had the great idea of tapping two chalks together and was fascinated by cause and effect. Powder trickled down from the chalk, which appeared like fairy dust.

We look forward to a joyful week ahead filled with curiosity and springtime cheer.
