Twickenham - Aliens, Dinosaurs & World Wildlife Day

This week we celebrated World Book Day - we spent our week leading up to this talking about all things books and reading and sparking our Little Forest Folk-ers imaginations!

Monday was all about aliens… we collected all our alien books and sent our Little Forest Folk-ers into outer space. They had their jetpacks and space suits and discussed what planet they’d like to visit. The children especially enjoyed reading ‘Aliens love underpants’ whilst running through the forest with underpants on their heads!

We then went back in time to the age of the dinosaurs…we were welcomed into the forest with a host of dino footprints of varying sizes. There were clay dinosaur eggs which the children had to patiently wait to hatch to see what was inside, it wasn’t long before these baby dinosaurs turned into GIANT ones who started racing each other around the forest.

Wednesday was St David's Day where we celebrated Wales. The book theme for today had to be dragons, especially as we had a huge Welsh flag in the forest. We had a dragon number hunt, searched for Daffodils, and ended the day sitting around the campfire where we cooked up some delicious homemade Welsh Cakes.

On to the big day itself… and the children and staff looked so brilliant in all their World Book Day costumes, we had witches, dinosaurs, tigers and even a chef, the highlight of the day of course being the Gruffalo who came to visit!!

Our week ended on World Wildlife Day and what a perfect place to celebrate. Our Little Forest Folk-ers love nothing more than seeking out all the wildlife our beautiful forest has to offer.

Another wonderful week, see you next time!
