An exciting week in the forest with bugs, exploring and magic wand making!
This week our children have been exploring lots of magical worlds with fairy houses, exciting mushrooms growing and wand making. The children spent time finding sticks in the forest and then adding different things onto them, such as feathers and string, to make them as magical as possible! We then played in the dens and watched to see what magical powers we all had!
We have also done a lot of mark making and shape recognition this week. Using recycled cardboard we had some shapes cut out for the children to match up, and we could also look at what shapes we had around us in the forest. There has also been lots of opportunity for mark making and creating pieces of artwork with rings around us. The week started with autumn paintings, using oranges and browns to paint leaves or even use the leaf as the paintbrush. We also used sticks, acorns and conkers to make different patterns on the page.
The week rounded off with one of our educators bringing in some of her pet insects for the children to look at. We had some hissing cockroaches that they could look at and hold, which was very exciting! They all had the chance to get close to them and see a new kind of insect!
Such a wonderful and magical week at Wimbledon!
