Wimbledon - Love, Strength, Shrinking and Growth Potions!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Here at Wimbledon we’ve celebrated love all week!

Our week started with an extraordinary potion mud kitchen! As a team, we gathered resources to add an extra flare to the last mud kitchen activities for our full days here at the scout hut. The children had potion making cards where they could make love, strength, shrinking and growth potions. They had tulips, pine and elder branches, leaves and recyclable stringy paper to mix, stir and boil away. The potion kitchen quickly expanded to make a potion cafe! Wraps, burgers and pizzas were on the menu where the waiting time to be seated was over 10 minutes!

To add to our culinary experiences this week, Rebecca organised a citrus fruits extravaganza! The children used juicers to squeeze the juice out of lemon and orange segments before drinking it and chewing the segments. Were there many funny reactions I hear you ask…. a couple! However, a few loved it so much they couldn’t stop!

To continue the love at Wimbledon, the team organised many red and pink activities to show off how you can express yourself. A photo booth was set up where the children could use props in front of a decorated back drop to take photos for their families on Famly. Many of our Little Forest Folk-ers asked friends to join their whacky poses and happy smiles. Afterwards, the children had the opportunity to create heart cards for those they love and appreciate. At the mark making table, adults helped explain what the word appreciate means and give examples of who they appreciate to support the children in their decisions. With love themed music on in the background, they practised cutting pieces of paper to decorate their card before telling an adult who they wanted to give it too. Some went ahead to try and write their name afterwards too, encouraging their own mark making and pen grip! As you can see on our Valentine’s tree, lots of children made their cards and we hope you enjoy them at home!
