This week we have been doing what Little Forest Folk do best…..NATURE!!!!!!!
We started our week off with some leaf printing. Firstly, the children went scavenging for all sorts of different leaves and we looked at all the different characteristics before checking them in a book. We then decided to either paint the back of the leaf and print it onto paper or to do some leaf rubbings. Both techniques looked fantastic, and our little explorers went off looking for different leaves to try once they had seen the result.
We went on some amazing adventures this week too! One of our highlights was going down to see the natural spring at Caesar’s Well and we even gave it a little taste………it was delicious!!!!!!!
We carried on our travels seeking out all sorts of treasures from the trees. There were pinecones, pine needles and stones (or are they dinosaur eggs…?) Some of the pine needles looked like brushes, so we collected some blackberries and used the juice as paint and the pine needles as a brush to do some painting.
On one of our walks, we found some open logs that we thought would make for some fantastic water play, and so we brought them back and connected them together. We had so much fun pouring the water into the top and watching it trickle down to the bottom. We added leaves etc and watched them slowly float down.
Our senses went wild when making our scent bags. We had rosemary, thyme, lavender and much, much more. First, we smelt all the different ingredients to see if we could identify the smell and then the children selected some of their favourites and placed them in a material of their choice. Once they were happy with their selection, we tied them up for them to have in their homes. Lots of fun was had asking the educators if they could guess what they had put inside them.
Hope you have a lovely bank holiday weekend!
