Putney Heath - Fishing Fun!

This week, we continued our "All Around Me" theme, soaking up the glorious winter sunshine while diving into exciting learning adventures.

We kicked off the week with fishing fun! Using fishing rods, our adventurers "caught" clay fish, each linked to a cool fact about aquatic life and amphibians. Along the way, they practiced their number recognition by matching their catches with fact cards. It was a brilliant combination of learning, numeracy, and hands-on play.

Our exploration of history brought us to the fascinating world of fossils and excavation. Using clay, the children made imprints to create their very own "fossils." Backed by fact books, we learned all about how fossils form and the incredible process of uncovering them, fuelling curiosity about the world’s past.

The forest itself became our creative canvas. During our adventure walks, we gathered sticks to create our own forest dioramas. Sticks represented the towering trees, and we used washi tape to form winding forest paths. Our creativity didn’t stop there! With straws and paper, we crafted our very own ships, setting sail on imaginative voyages across the meadow.

We also explored some technology, introducing instant cameras to the children. They delighted in having their photos taken and watching them print out before their eyes. This activity sparked the idea for our next project: creating puppets with their own faces on them - stay tuned for their creative masterpieces!

Imaginative play reached new heights this week as we dived into occupational worlds like hospitals, police stations, cafés, and homes. The children compared similarities and differences between these spaces, role-playing to deepen their understanding of how each contributes to their world.

It’s been another action-packed week filled with discovery, creativity, and play. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to more adventures next week!

Have a wonderful weekend!
