“One small step for a Little Forest Folk-er, one giant leap for all Little Forest Folk-ers”.
The weather has changed and yet again our Little Forest Folk-ers have adapted to the milder weather and enjoyed some bug hunts. Some of the bees have come out of their hive too early, so we have created warm-up spaces for them using recycled plastic bottles.
Space is our theme this week and we have been creating fabulous stories. Each child has looked at our space themed picture card prompts and come up with some fabulous stories. Aliens have been swimming in a swimming pool on the planet Mercury. Astronauts have been zooming between the planets finding ice cream trees and baby aliens have been wearing floaties and learning to swim in a black swimming pool.
We have been painting colourful planets of our own design on paper plates. We have been exploring textures using sticks and scrunched up silver foil dipped into paint to create pictures. And we have been making walkie talkies from cardboard and sticks as we communicate with our colleagues on the rockets and Space Station.
The moon cafe mud kitchen has been very busy and our cheeky Little Forest Folk-ers have been creating colourful potions and telling the staff that the potions will make them live forever, or make them super clever, all they have to do is take a sip. No sooner do we pretend to sip the potion are we told that we’ve been poisoned and off the children run, laughing at their wonderful trickery. If we try to chase them, they leap upon the obstacle course and climb up and away to the Space Station.
Stories of space, chat of Armstrong and the first men on the moon, songs of rockets and aliens as well as creating eerie alien music with bells and pipes have kept us all very busy.
Until next week!
