Twickenham - 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'

Hello, everyone!

The weather has been rather confusing this week: we always start with a chilly morning, fresh breeze, and then happily end our day with sun gloriously shining on us! Despite this ever-changing weather, our Little Forest Folk-ers here in Twickenham are unfazed and are just always ready to immerse themselves in every season!

What a great joy to see new and familiar faces back in our site, as we had the holiday campers this week! We love seeing the interaction between the older children and the younger ones, as they accommodate each other in their play. It seems like our “kind and gentle” rule has engraved with them for life.

We started our week by finding various ways of telling stories. Story stones were used to support us in thinking about the characters, setting, and plot as we wrote our own stories. We were our own author and illustrator as we created our own mini story books. The puppet theatre set up was a crowd favourite, as the children took turns in playing various characters, with “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Three Little Pigs” and “Going on Bear Hunt” as the most requested stories.

Little Forest Folk Twickenham can’t let this week pass by without celebrating Dino Day on 1st of June. Large T-rex footprints with numbers on them were scattered around the forest and our little Dino hunters patiently searched for all of them, and arranged them in order from one to ten. Our tuff tray was filled with blocks of ice in different shapes and sizes, with hidden treasures inside, waiting for the dinos to enjoy!

We ended our week celebrating the importance of butterflies in our environment. We, of course, read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, learnt about their life cycle, and made beautiful butterfly crafts!
