Wimbledon - Exploring Colours!

This week has been full of colour! With the gorgeous sun finally showing its face, we’ve had a lot of fun at Little Forest Folk Wimbledon.

The bunnies have been digging holes in basecamp - they dug so deep that they managed to find clay! They were so kind in sharing this between themselves and foxes. We mixed this clay together with mud and other natural resources to make an array of different coloured mud, and then used this natural mud ‘paint’ to decorate the trees and other beauties of the forest!

The children have also enjoyed tie-dying this week. We used tea bags and a tie-dying set to decorate white cotton sheets. We started by using string and elastic bands to wrap and twist around the sheets to create the desired style that we were each looking for. Once we had prepared our patterns, we used the dye to add colour to our sheets. We waited patiently as the sun dried the colour to see how they would finish. We are excited to see the final look after they have been washed!

We have also used pipettes to add coloured water to a large fabric sheet. We used our fine motor skills to suck up the water in the pipette before using the same motion to place it on the sheet in the desired location!

This week has been a sunny and colourful week and we have loved exploring the forest during the summer weather, whilst keeping cool in the shade with lots of suncream, bug spray and water!!
