Wandsworth - Our Final Day At Paradise Gardens!

Wandsworth - Our Final Day At Paradise Gardens!

A shorter week! With everyone off on the Bank Holiday Monday, we started this week at Wimbledon Common. It's been first-rate. Our newcomers have had the opportunity to play with some of the holiday campers and regular children. Many meetings and lots of playing!

Wandsworth - Exploring the Common!

Another splendid week passes. Paradise continues to be an idyllic spot for the children to sculpt clay and race about. The mud kitchen was splodgy and bustling as the "cupcakes" came in and out of the oven! We connected an elaborate number of white strings to make a gigantic spider-web for the children to play in. They certainly took delight in this as they untangled and pushed through the strings to escape it!

Wandsworth - On Our New Spot of Land

It's been a transformative week at Little Forest Folk Wandsworth. Starting out within the tranquil normality of Paradise, it was a delight to have a new intake of holiday campers for the summer. Both campers and full-timers have had excellent fun playing with one another. The clay was a very popular choice at Paradise, with many mouldings made; towering castles; sludgy snails and wiggly worms. We also had plenty of time to indulge in some wondrous stories and run around the little labyrinth of plants as the children ran and chased one another.

In a week of splendid weather, we have endeavoured to make sure that our final week on this part of the common has been a good send off. What’s more, it is the last week for some of our little explorers here. Cramming in as much as we could for the children's entertainment, we have made sure it's been a particularly special week.

Wandsworth - Paper Pizzas

Wandsworth - Paper Pizzas

A stupendously fun week in the great outdoors! Many of the children have been baking and making paper pizzas. There were some very colourful pizzas, with a great profusion of toppings; cheese, pepper, pepperoni! Bon appétit! The children also took to another bear hunt with great enthusiasm. Running from the roars and giggling at the growls.

Wandsworth - Adventure Walks & Playing with Rocks!

Wandsworth - Adventure Walks & Playing with Rocks!

We had a wonderfully sunny start this week at Paradise. Collectively, the children love climbing in the trees, grasping and stepping between the branches. Some pretending to be monkeys, with others being sloths. There's never a dull moment. At the crafts table, our educators Maria and Kate busily helped many of the children to make some exquisite fox masks. The children were only too happy to get involved with the scissors and glue!

What have we done to deserve such glorious weather this week!? On Monday, we moved our setup around at Paradise Gardens, to allow for activities to take place in the shadier parts of the gardens. We enjoyed swinging on a tree swing underneath one of the big trees! To encourage fair sharing, we created a pretend ticketing system, which allowed the children to understand whose turn it was, and whose turn it would be next, this meant that everyone had an equal amount of turns on the swing.

The radiant sunlight we've enjoyed this week has assisted us in another batch of delightful days in the outdoors. The children have gleefully enjoyed all the usual miscellaneous activities in the forest, the soaring swing, the stacks of stories, the rocking ropes and more. The children have been blissfully happy from morning till noon.

Under the leafy canopy of Paradise, the children got off to an excellent start this week. Gathering around the table, the children had a wonderful time, moulding, pressing and rolling clay with one another. With an eclectic array of possibilities, they primarily made all sorts of foods; sausages, eggs, potatoes and peas. The kitchen was well and truly open and all the little chefs were hard at work. "Ten fat sausages sizzling in a pan, one went pop and the other went bang," they enthusiastically sang with the educators. Bon appétit!

It's been a particularly enjoyable experience for the children this week, with a profusion of parents joining for 'stay and play.' Starting out at Paradise this week - at last having a reprieve from bank holidays - the children have had a lovely time; making mud-pies and running energetic laps around the garden.

Wandsworth - Wands, Ladybirds and Dreamcatchers

Wandsworth - Wands, Ladybirds and Dreamcatchers

Another bank holiday week, so the action all started at Wimbledon Common. The weather has been generous and the children happy. In the arts section, the children have been experimenting with a profusion of shapes that the hole punches can make in fallen leaves. Wands, ladybirds and dreamcatchers being but a few of the delightful things that our Little Forest Folk-ers have been making.
