This week some children had their photographs taken in the forest - it seemed everybody turned up on Monday with a bright smile and a fresh, new haircut!

Mini Beast Discoveries
The children have been busy making discoveries in the forest. They’ve been using magnifying glasses to look at the different parts of snails, ladybirds, millipedes and centipedes. We counted their legs and eyes and talked about their sizes using words like ‘smaller’ and ‘bigger’.

On camp we have had all sorts of activities including creating a library with great stories for the children to explore. A popular activity was making our own library cards in the creative area and encouraging further development for our older children by encouraging them to practise writing their own names on their library cards.
Morden - Ducklings!
This week has been one of the most anticipated so far this year as we had the arrival of our five duckling eggs on Monday. Our explorers were very excited and eager to see them. Some were a bit confused as to why they were in an incubator and had some questions like 'why haven’t they hatched yet?' or 'what are they inside?' which gave us the opportunity to talk and explain what the incubator does to help the ducklings grow. The entire experience from the duck eggs arriving to watching small chips and cracks appearing on the eggs was very exciting for everyone.

We’re so happy to be back for the new term and pleased to see our sessional friends return to the forest and we feel excited to move back to our Parakeets area. Our beloved plane tree is looking leafy and green, and we are enjoying watching the mummy and daddy birds collect twigs and leaves to make their nests.
